Featuring Journeyman Ink
"Everyone in the world, regardless of age, culture, or socio-economic background, is affected in some way, shape or form by substance abuse. Oftentimes, it is too heavy to talk about. In “Life’s Collections of Stories,” Will Richey and Alejandro Perez, Jr.(AP), offer an uplifting, age-appropriate presentation on the trials and tribulations of drug and alcohol abuse, the effect it has on our families and community, and the importance of making healthy decisions that nourish the mind, body, and spirit. This dynamic, interactive, multi-media performance introduces the audience to Enrique “Kiki” Camarena (the inspiration behind Red Ribbon Week) and the powerful story of Jacqueline Saburido (chosen as one of Oprah Winfrey's most memorable stories). With original spoken word pieces accompanied by a live percussive element, Will and AP will have the assembly nodding their heads to inspirational melodies and shouting back positive call and response mantras encouraging the youth to fight the temptations and peer pressures that come with this timeless issue."
